Geophysical survey questions

Answers to common questions about geophysical surveys.

Still have questions? Contact us and we will help.

General questions

What types of geophysical surveys do you perform?

We cover the full range of engineering geophysics:

  • VES - vertical electrical sounding
  • ERT - 2D/3D soil mapping
  • GPR - utilities and anomalies detection
  • Seismic surveys - MASW, refraction, velocity analysis
  • Electromagnetic methods (ZSB/TEM)
  • Seismic microzonation
In which regions do you work?

We work throughout Russia, from the Yamal Peninsula to the Far East. Main regions include:

  • Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (Sabetta, Bovanenkovo)
  • Yakutia (Lensk, Chayanda, Mirny)
  • Irkutsk Oblast
  • Transbaikalia and BAM corridor
  • Krasnodar Krai and the south of Russia
Do you work in permafrost conditions?

Yes, permafrost conditions are one of our specializations. We have experience in Yamal and Yakutia where ground temperatures drop to -15°C and below.

We use ERT, GPR, and MASW seismic surveys tailored for cryolithic soils.

Costs and timelines

How much do geophysical surveys cost?

Cost depends on scope, methods, logistics, season, and site complexity.

Send your technical requirements and we will prepare a proposal within 1-2 business days.

What are typical project timelines?
  • Field work: from 3 days to several weeks
  • Processing: 5-10 business days
  • Report preparation: 5-7 business days

Urgent projects can be accelerated with parallel processing and larger crews.

What is included in the report?
  • Technical assignment and work program
  • Methodology and equipment description
  • Observation point catalog with coordinates
  • Geological and geophysical sections
  • Conclusions and recommendations
  • Graphic appendices

Methods and equipment

What equipment do you use?
  • Electrical surveys: MEDUSA, SKAT and Astra 100 generators
  • GPR: OKO-2
  • Seismic: TELLS-3
  • TEM: TSIKL-8 + KT-20
  • Microseismic: Delta-03M

All equipment is regularly calibrated and verified.

How is ERT better than VES?
  • Continuous 2D/3D cross-sections instead of point data
  • Higher spatial resolution
  • Detection of local anomalies (voids, ice, water-bearing zones)

Classical VES still works well for layer depth estimation.

Cooperation

How do we start working together?
  • Technical requirements or task description
  • Site location map
  • Site accessibility information
  • Desired timeline
